“It is not the mountain we conquer but ourselves.”
I have been very blessed to get a second chance at life after my radical recovery from serious health conditions many moons ago. This sparked a calling to start trekking and visit some of the most incredible places on the planet. My first stop was Africa where I conquered the highest free standing mountain in the world and reached the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro in 2014 despite many challenges and against all the odds with symptoms of altitude sickness. This was such an incredible achievement and led to some more treks… Icelandic Lava Trek and Sahara Desert Trek. Each place and each trek brought different challenges, life lessons and beautiful scenery none of which would have happened had it not been for the adversity I went through with my health.
When the time is right I’m sure some more mountain tops will call me. Travel is a deep calling for sure and what I have learned from it all is to never give up on your dreams. When you live each moment one step at a time, before you know it you’re on the mountain top of life and right where you want to be. More importantly, no matter where you are in the world, true travel is the transformation that occurs within your soul which will move any mountains.
