The Road Less Travelled…

Life is about moving beyond what you know and into the unexpected. It’s where dreams grow and we evolve into the greatness of being human…

It’s been a while since my last blog post. Life is filled with weaves and unexpected turns this year. There’s been a lot happening behind the scenes since the Autumn Equinox and I had to learn to prioritise and follow where my heart takes me along the way. It meant my blog has taken a back seat to some important creative projects and exam studies for my Naturopathic Nutrition course (which I somehow aced despite many challenges). I’m writing this post in the airport as we speak, about to take some much needed time out but will be back on my blog again in about a month or so after my travels.

Along this path, I am trying and stepping into a lot of new things and somehow new dimensions at times. Sometimes I have no idea what will happen, except I have to take the next step in listening to the yearnings of the heart. In this I always trust. People often ask me how I get things done or find the time and despite it being a constant juggle with my schedule the answer is easy. I follow the love and want to live my life having tried with no regrets rather than not trying and staying the same without moving forwards. The human spirit is expansive and we are all capable of so much if we allow ourselves to move beyond what is comfortable.

Entering into the unknown is a constant in my life and sometimes can be part of the fun too. When we do some something it’s about looking inside yourself and seeing what is your motive for doing it. Also, looking at what moves, motivates and inspires you. I continue to trust in life and follow the signs. I know they will never lead me astray, although my friends will probably tell you I lead them astray but that’s another story 🙂

I like to focus on the ‘why’ on doing something and for me it’s about turning all my experiences and studies into something worthwhile in service to others. Isn’t that what life is all about anyway?!!

“Service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on Earth.” (Muhammad Ali)

To live a life in service to others is why we are here. It doesn’t always mean trekking the highest of mountains although trekking is something that has called to me personally many times over. It’s about giving your gifts in your own authentic way whatever that may be. Life is so much better when we share. It creates a ripple effect to heal and raise the consciousness of this planet. Let it be the legacy you leave behind.

Blessings,
Lisa

The Human Spirit…

“An ascending life, in which we keep striving to grow and improve – this is what is meant by human revolution. Human revolution doesn’t mean becoming something special or different from who you are; it simply means striving to improve, no matter what challenges we face.” (Daisaku Ikeda)

I love the term human revolution. It is a powerful statement filled with hope for the human spirit. It was a term coined in Nichiren Buddhism. When I first started practicing Buddhism this is where I was introduced to the concept. It is that knowing that when we face challenges that there is always something we can to do change something yet remaining authentic in how we express ourselves.  What it has taught me is that every challenge is an opportunity for so much good. Somehow the more challenges a person may face is an opportunity for even more growth. It may not seem that way but it is an chance to step out of ourselves and see these challenges as fuel for change. As we tap into our inner resources it gives scope for tremendous growth inside of each of us and be able to live in a way in which we remain strong our convictions. We can surely strive with determination and hope for the future. I believe there is always hope. As long as we have hope in our hearts then anything is possible. Human revolution starts with love. It begins with each of us.

Wishing you a hope-filled week!

Namaste,

Lisa ♥

Springtime Sun

nature-3263198_1920“Winter always turns to spring.”
(Nichiren Daishonin)

This is one of my favourite Buddhist quotes. It reminds me of the realities of human life which we cannot escape. There will always be challenges, some greater than others, but our resolve to win is greater still. It’s what makes the world and the people in it so beautiful.

In the harshest of winters, things can seem so lifeless and so dark as light leaves with no ending in sight. Yet somehow the seasons come around as always, changing as we change, giving each of us a strong reminder to keep going and have hope for a better tomorrow.

Change can come in a variety of different ways and is not always easy. Sometimes when things are reaching breaking point, it is at that precise moment when a breakthrough is about to occur. If we have courage to step into it and move through it, we can learn so much about ourselves and our perspective of our circumstances can then be so different. This was certainly the case when I first heard the above quote. I didn’t believe it at first because I was at my lowest point with my health at the time and it seemed like there would never be a resolution to it or hope that my life would get better but it did.

When I was able to change my heart and really believe things could be different, this is when the miracle occurred and the light could enter again. As Marianne Williamson says, “a miracle is a shift of perception from fear to love.

Be ready and willing for your miracle!!

Lots of love,
Lisa
